ISLAMABAD: A fistfight broke out on a private news channel between Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ikhtiar Wali Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeem Haider Panjutha during a live appearance.
The confrontation began when Ikhtiar Wali Khan raised questions about the paternity of Tyrian White, reportedly the daughter of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Panjutha continuously shouted that Nawaz Sharif had no character and that he was an absconder, while Ikhtiar bat upon bathing Panjutha’s father on the face and calling Tyrian an illegitimate child of Khan.
The situation got out of control when Panjutha spoke unkindly about Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, further aggravating the tussle between two leaders.
The tussle between the two individuals resulted in damage of the media channel equipments, LEDs and other apparatus.
The fight was finally stopped by the crew at the studio, but punches had already been exchanged between the politicians. Afterward, Panjutha said that anyone who talks bad about Imran Khan’s family should be ready to face the consequences.
Wali Khan took to social media to support himself, stating he would not stoop to creating arguments with people spewing abuses, as that was cowardice. This is not the first instance of politicians engaging in fistfights before the camera.
Many similar incidents have happened, including the fight between Senator Afnan Ullah from PML-N and PTI’s Sher Afzal in September 2023 during a current affairs show, and Firdous Ashiq Awan slapped PPP MNA Qadir Khan Mandokhail in June 2021.
