PTI ready for negotiations with establishment, says Raoof Hasan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Raoof Hasan has expressed hope that the ongoing deadlock between the PTI and the army will end soon, saying it is in the best interest of the state.

According to media reports, Hasan said that the deadlock between the PTI and the army should not continue, stressing the importance of starting talks between the PTI and the army without further delay.

He highlighted that the path to political stability in Pakistan lies in the recognition of PTI’s mandate, either through judicial means or fresh elections.

Hasan added, “PTI does not want to involve the army in politics. Dialogue with the army is necessary, as they hold the main power in the country at the moment.”

The PTI spokesperson also suggested that a judicial commission probe the May 9 incidents and if evidence is found, the party would apologise.

He acknowledged that some party leaders have personal connections within the military that could facilitate future negotiations.

Hasan further said that PTI founder Mehmood Achakzai has been authorized to negotiate with political parties and the army if necessary.

He added that the current government has failed to influence the judiciary, stressing that the government cannot function without judicial support. He also noted the growing independence movement within the judiciary.

Raoof Hasan also rejected the claims of his contacts with anti-national elements and challenged the information minister to provide proof of such allegations.

He announced that the PTI would start a nationwide movement from September 8, planning rallies in all major cities, even if permission was not granted.

He added that with more political parties joining their alliance, the Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) agreed to cooperate on a joint strategy.

The recent meeting between the delegations of PTI and Maulana Fazlur Rehman was described as positive in which the talks are likely to continue at the bilateral level.
