PTI seek permission to hold Jalsa at Minar-e-Pakistan

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a Jalsa at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5 to showcase their political power, according to media reports.

PTI president Lahore, Sheikh Imtiaz, has formally submitted a request to the Deputy Commissioner Lahore.

The application states that the Jalsa aims to promote public opinion about the release of ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The PTI states that if the permission to hold Jalsa at Minar-e-Pakistan is not granted, then any other suitable place must be allocated for the political activity.

The petition further states that a rally will be held on August 5 from 4 pm to 10 pm with the participation of party leadership and members of the provincial assembly.

PTI leaders say that this rally will be peaceful and will be a means of expressing public opinion in accordance with democratic requirements.

May 9 case convictions

In another development, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmed Bhachar was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the May 9 case.

The Sargodha Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced 70 accused to 10 years in prison in the May 9 case.

The Sargodha Anti-Terrorism Court has also sentenced MNA Ahmed Chatta to ten years in prison.

It should be noted that most of the accused in the Mianwali riot and vandalism case are out on bail.

On May 9, 2023, a case was filed in Mianwali for vandalism and riots in response to protests sparked by the arrest of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a corruption case.

According to the report, the sentence against the accused was pronounced in case number 72/2023, which was registered in the Musakhel area of ​​Mianwali district.

The case was registered under the provisions of anti-terrorism for vandalism, arson and rioting.

Malik Ahmed Khan Bachhar is likely to be disqualified and de-seated after his conviction.

On May 9, 2023, PTI held nationwide protests after Imran Khan was arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
