LAHORE: Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood distributed cheques among the winners of the lucky draw for the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program on Monday.

Under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar program, the Punjab govt provides interest-free loans for the construction of houses with affordable monthly installments.

Addressing the cheque distribution ceremony, Rana Mashhood said that the government is working day and night to provide basic facilities to the people and the elements who defamed the country were now defaming themselves.

Last month, Maryam Nawaz said that the loans under “Apni Chhat Apni Ghar” will be given purely on merit, he said, and in the first year, the government plans to issue loans for 100,000 houses. The repayment period is nine years, and there is zero interest.

She strictly directed that the loan installment should not exceed Rs 15000, as the government wants to reduce the financial burden on the people. She also said that there would be a monthly draw to select the loan recipients, explaining that the loans would now be disbursed in two installments instead of four.

For the first three months, no payment will be required. Eligible citizens of Lahore, Kasur, and other districts have already received the first installment and have started construction of their houses.
