LAHORE: The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, approved the ‘CM Punjab Laptop Scheme‘, which will provide laptops to deserving students, enhancing their access to information technology and promoting research and quality education.

The cabinet has made some significant decisions today in Lahore, aimed at promoting education, environmental protection, and public welfare. This scheme is part of the government’s efforts to invest in the development of a knowledge economy and ICT education in Punjab.

In addition to the laptop scheme, the cabinet also approved the ‘Khelta Punjab program’, aimed at promoting sports and youth development in the province.

To tackle environmental issues, the cabinet approved an amendment to the Provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965, increasing fines for vehicles emitting excessive smoke. This move is expected to help reduce air pollution in Punjab.

Furthermore, the cabinet launched an initiative to address plastic pollution by establishing District Plastic Management Committees. This initiative will help promote sustainable practices and reduce plastic waste in the province.

These decisions demonstrate the Punjab government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens, promoting education, and protecting the environment. With a budget of Rs. 10 billion allocated for the laptop scheme in the fiscal year 2024-2025, it’s clear that the government is serious about investing in the future of Punjab’s youth.
