LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched strict action against motorcyclists who do not wear helmets to effectively implement traffic rules.

Under the new guidelines, now those riding motorcycles without helmets will not only be issued challans but their motorcycles will also be stopped for a day.

According to traffic police officials, the use of helmets has been made mandatory across the province to protect the lives and property of citizens and reduce traffic accidents. For this purpose, a special campaign has been launched from today, during which indiscriminate action will be taken against those violating traffic rules.

Officials say that in addition to ensuring 100 percent use of helmets, action will also be taken against motorcyclists who violate lane lines. According to traffic police, more than 20,000 motorcycles were stopped last month for lane line violations alone, which can be gauged from the strict implementation of traffic rules.

On the other hand, a new digital system of traffic challans has also been introduced across Punjab, including Lahore. Under this modern system, every challan will be issued with complete evidence like video and photo, so that the process is transparent and fair.
