Punjab government decides to launch “Apna Ghar, Mahfooz Ghar” program

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken the final decision to launch the “Apna Ghar, Mahfooz Ghar” program to make the houses of the province safe.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz regarding the “Apna Chhat, Apna Ghar” and “Apna Zameen, Apna Ghar” programs in which the progress of the flagship housing projects of the Punjab government was reviewed.

During the meeting, it was decided that the scope of the “Apna Chhat, Apna Ghar” program will be expanded and a new facility will be introduced to make the existing houses safe.

Under the new program, assistance of up to Rs 500,000 will be provided for the repair and rehabilitation of houses with dilapidated, rotten and weak roofs, while a proposal to provide interest-free loans of up to Rs 1 million on easy installments for building a new floor or additional floor on houses has been approved.

Speaking during the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that in times of crisis, not just statements but practical steps are the hallmark of good governance.

Maryam Nawaz directed that obtaining easy loans for construction and improvement of houses should be made easier and no additional burden should be placed on poor citizens.

The meeting was also informed about the achievements of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program.

It was informed in the briefing that more than one lakh houses have been completed under the program, while more than one lakh 80 thousand homeless families have been approved for interest-free easy installments.

So far, one lakh 70 thousand families have been provided loans, while Rs 217.8 billion has been released for the project.

The briefing said that 134,343 houses have been completed across Punjab, while more than 27,500 houses are in the final stages of completion. A total of more than 1.278 million homeless families have submitted applications for the program.

A progress report on the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” program was also presented in the meeting, under which 2,000 plots were provided in 23 districts.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the homeless families who have been given free plots will also be provided with loan facilities to build houses.

The Chief Minister of Punjab directed the concerned authorities that no negligence will be tolerated in “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” and all the programs related to it, while providing maximum facilities to the people is the top priority.

  3. Complete the required application form.
  4. Upload any required documents if requested.
  5. Review your information carefully.
  6. Submit the application.
  7. Save the confirmation or reference number for future tracking.
