LAHORE: In a recent development, the Punjab government has announced a public holiday on December 05, 2024 due to by-elections in the Sheikhupura district of Punjab.

According to the facts, a public holiday has been announced in the district on the day of the election since a by-election is scheduled for December 5 in the Punjab Assembly constituency of PP-139 Ferozewala.
In a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Office the government has declared public holiday on December 5 has been designated as a public holiday.
Rana Afzal Hussain, who had previously been elected as a member of the Punjab Assembly in the by-election following Rana Tanveer Hussain’s vacating of the seat, passed away, leaving the PP-139 seat of the Punjab Assembly vacant.
Shahid Imran Marth, the Deputy Commissioner of Sheikhupura, has been named the District Returning Officer by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
For the by-election in PP-139, Sheikhupura, Muhammad Adeel Khan, Assistant Commissioner of Ferozewala, and Rana Bakhtiar Ahmad, Deputy District Education Officer of Ferozewala, will serve as Assistant Returning Officers, while Usman Jalees, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Sheikhupura, will serve as the Returning Officer.
