Punjab govt cracks down on substandard fuel with province wide inspections

LAHORE: In a bid to safeguard consumers and the environment, the Punjab government has launched a comprehensive crackdown on petrol pumps to guarantee the sale of high-quality fuel.

This extensive operation, conducted under the Punjab Environmental Protection Act, underscores the government’s dedication to environmental improvements and consumer rights.

The initiative aims at rigorous monthly inspections at all fuel stations across the province to verify compliance with strict fuel standards.

A joint task force comprising personnel from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and oil marketing companies will conduct thorough checks on fuel quality at various petrol pumps.

To ensure adherence to the standards set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the EPA will employ its cutting-edge fuel quality laboratories to conduct chemical analyses of fuel samples.

This will help identify any subpar or contaminated products, thereby protecting consumers from fraudulent practices.

By launching this operation, the authorities aim to maintain the integrity of fuel sold in Punjab, ensuring that it meets regulatory standards.

Additionally, the government has also abolished the waiting period for obtaining a Punjab motorcycle license, streamlining the process for citizens.
