SHEIKHUPURA: The Punjab government has inaugurated a double-decker bus service connecting Lahore with Sheikhupura. The service, introduced under the Punjab Tourism and Archaeology Department, will operate every Saturday and Sunday and costs Rs 1,200 per passenger.
The inaugural trip included visits to important places like the shrine of Pir Waris Shah and the famous Hiran Minar. Tourists enjoyed activities like boating and cycling at Hiran Minar, while a special Heer Ranjha ceremony was organized to showcase local culture and heritage.
Residents of Lahore and visitors from other cities welcomed the initiative, calling it a historic step in promoting tourism in Sheikhupura. Many expressed that the two-day tour has given a new identity to the city’s historical heritage and has attracted the attention of residents of Lahore and surrounding districts.
DC Shahid Imran Marth highlighted that efforts are underway to make Sheikhupura a major tourism hub. Additional Secretary Tourism Sadaf Zafar added that the aim of this program is to boost the local economy while promoting the city’s magnificent historical heritage.
With this new service, Sheikhupura is poised to become a major destination for cultural and heritage tourism in Punjab.
