LAHORE: The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Punjab has started online registration for the February auction of attractive or fancy registration numbers of vehicles.
According to officials, citizens can now register for the number of their choice from home through the e-auction mobile app and web portal. While the last date for registration has been set for March 2.
The aim of introducing the digital system is to make the auction process transparent, easy and accessible to the public. So that citizens do not have to go around offices to get the registration number of their choice.
According to officials, the registration numbers of motorcycles, private vehicles and commercial vehicles will be available for auction on the e-auction platform. In addition, the details of successful bidders can also be seen online.
This e-auction system has been developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) in collaboration with the Excise Department.
Chairman PITB Faisal Yousaf said that with the use of modern technology, the traditional method of auctioning fancy numbers has been transformed into a digital system. This has increased transparency and made it possible to provide fast online facilities to the citizens.
Government officials have directed interested persons to complete online registration before the due date and participate in the auction.
