Punjab Police ASI arrested for ‘raping’ student in Sargodha

SARGODHA: An official of Punjab Police was arrested on the charge of raping a female student in Sargodha city of the province, here on Monday.

As per the details, a case has been registered against an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a private security guard, who are still absconding.

The authorities have suspended the police official and initiated departmental action against him. Police say that raids are being conducted to arrest the security guard.

The medical reports have also confirmed the rape of the student. Meanwhile, DPO Sargodha has formed a two-member committee to investigate the incident.

Earlier this month, an Islamabad police sub-inspector (SI) was suspended and put behind bars for illegally detaining and physically abusing two children for two days.

The action against the SI was taken without a complaint filed by the children’s relatives with Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
