LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced new school timings for Ramadan 2025, which will be implemented across all schools in the province.

According to the notification issued by the Punjab Education Department, schools will operate from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, classes will end at 12:30 pm.

The double-shift schools will start the first shift at 8:30 am till 12:00 PM, whereas the second shift will run from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The notification also states that female students will be dismissed 15 minutes earlier than the official closing time.

The revised timings aim to facilitate students and staff to observe fasts while maintaining educational activities.

On the other hand, the Sindh government also released the revised school timings for Ramadan this year.

As per the official notification, primary schools operating in a single shift will run classes from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Meanwhile, double-shift primary schools will follow the morning shift from 7:30 am to 11:30 am and the afternoon shift from 11:45 am to 2:45 pm.

The same Ramadan school timings apply to secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools across the province.

On Fridays, the morning shift will end at 10:30 am, while the afternoon shift will culminate at 1:15 pm.

School administrators are instructed to enforce these revised timings starting from the first day of Ramadan to ensure a smooth academic routine during the fasting period.

As Ramadan is approaching, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar on February 28 (Friday) for the sighting of the Ramadan moon. If the crescent is sighted, the holy month of fasting will begin on March 1 (Saturday).

However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), have issued a forecast, noting that the first day of fasting in Pakistan is expected to fall on March 2.
