QUETTA: In view of the law and order situation in Quetta, the Balochistan government has taken an important decision and imposed Section 144 in the city, under which various activities including pillion riding on motorcycles have been banned for 30 days.

According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Department, there will be a complete ban on motorcycle pillion riding in Quetta city. In addition, a ban has been imposed on the gathering of five or more people, meetings, processions, rallies, sit-ins and all kinds of public gatherings.

The notification also makes it clear that citizens will be banned from covering their faces with mufflers, masks or any other method. According to officials, these measures have been taken to improve the security situation in the city and avoid any untoward incident.

The Balochistan Home Department says that the purpose of implementing Section 144 is to ensure the safety of the lives and property of the public. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to strictly enforce the ban and take legal action against violators.

According to the authorities, maintaining law and order in Quetta is the top priority of the government. Due to security concerns in the city, such measures become necessary so that miscreants do not get a chance to carry out any illegal activities. During the ban, two people will not be allowed to travel on a motorcycle, however, officials on government duty, law enforcement agencies and people associated with certain essential services may be exempted as per the relevant rules.

Citizens have been appealed to cooperate with the government and administration, avoid unnecessary gatherings and ensure compliance with the law. The administration says that the ban is temporary in nature and further decisions will be taken in this regard after the situation improves.

According to the Balochistan government, the implementation of Section 144 in Quetta will remain for 30 days, while the situation will be continuously reviewed. If the situation improves, restrictions may be eased, but for now, citizens have been instructed to exercise caution and avoid any violations.
