RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed four Khawarij in two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, here on Thursday.
“On 9 October 24, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the general area of Jani Khel in Bannu district on information about the presence of Khawarij. During the operation, after a fierce exchange of fire, two Khawarij were sent to Hell, ” said the army’s media wing.
In another operation carried out on October 10, 24 in the general area of Hasan Khel district of North Waziristan, its own troops effectively targeted a Khawarij position and resulted in two more gunfights, the statement said. The Khawarij were killed.
Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the slain Khawarij, who were active in several acts of terrorism against the security forces as well as kidnapping and target killing of innocent civilians.
“The area is being swept to eliminate any other outsiders found in the area as security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,” the statement said.
Earlier, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Razmak area of North Waziristan and killed eight Khawarij.
During the operation, there was an exchange of fire, as a result of which 8 terrorists belonging to the banned group were killed while one terrorist was injured. According to ISPR, the security forces also recovered a huge number of arms and ammunition from the slain terrorists.
The statement added that terrorists were involved in target killing of both security personnel and civilians.
