Seven Levies personnel martyred in Kalat checkpost attack

KALAT: At least seven Levies personnel were martyred and 15 were injured in a terrorist attack on the paramilitary force’s checkpost in the Johan area of Balochistan’s Kalat district late Friday.

Local officials confirmed that unknown armed men attacked the Shah Mardan checkpost, resulting in the martyrdom of seven security personnel and injuries to 15 others.

The martyred personnel have been identified as Naik Bakhat Zameen, Lance Naik Ghulam Ishaq, Lance Naik Abdul Qadeer, Sepoy Rizwan, Sepoy Waqas, Sepoy Ali Abbas, and Sepoy Saqib Rehman.

Levies sources said that the bodies of martyrs and injured have been transferred to Quetta for medical treatment.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack on a military camp in Kalat.

Condemning the attack, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the martyred personnel and expressed condolences to their families.

Naqvi said that the personnel have attained the high status of martyrdom and we salute them. “The martyrs have cultivated peace with their blood, and the great sacrifices of the martyrs will always be remembered,” he wrote in a statement.
