KARACHI: The provincial government of Sindh has taken a significant step to end the tradition of welcoming guests with children as well as giving Ajraks, caps and other gifts at official functions in educational institutions.
An official notification has been issued by the School Education and Literacy Department of the Sindh government, directing all directors, principals and headmasters to implement these changes immediately.
The notice states that “All Directors, DEOs, TEOs, Headmasters, Headmistresses, Principals of Government Schools and Heads of concerned Institutions are directed to end the practice of presenting Ajrak, Topi and any kind of gift during official meetings, functions or events. The Secretariat should stop it.
Furthermore, the practice of presenting Ajrak, Sindhi Topi, or any gift during official functions has been abolished.
The Sindh government has stressed that all institutions must fully comply with these orders, any violation will be met with severe penalties.
The new policy is set to come into effect immediately, with the aim of maintaining an educational environment that focuses on academic activities rather than formal ceremonies.
