KARACHI: Transgenders have demanded the Sindh government to provide separate wards in government hospitals and shelter homes for elderly transgenders, here on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, transgender leader Alisha said that a member of her community, Noori, died recently at the civil hospital due to lack of medical facilities.
She complained that basic medical facilities are not only available to transgenders but also to common people.
Alisha said that despite the existing laws, transgender women do not get special facilities in any institution.
Alisha pointed out that only the police department has set up a transgender desk, while no facility has been provided in any other department.
She demanded the local government and the Sindh government to provide special services for transgenders.
She requested that separate wards should be made for transgenders in government hospitals.
