KARACHI: Sarim Burney, social activist and head of the non-profit Sarim Burney Welfare Trust International has been arrested in Karachi on charges of human trafficking.
According to the sources, the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking and Smuggling Wing detained Sarim Burney from Karachi airport upon his return from Washington, United States.
According to sources, Burney was wanted for his alleged involvement in serious crimes, including human trafficking.
The FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking cell has taken Burney into custody, and a legal team has arrived at the FIA office to meet with him.
Sarim Burney is a Pakistani businessman who runs his non-profit organization ‘Saram Burney Welfare Trust’ and serves as the chairperson of the trust.
