ISLAMABAD: The Spain visa appointment scandal has taken a dramatic turn with fresh developments raising questions over the system’s transparency. The Spanish embassy has so far remained mute, avoiding any official statement despite repeated attempts to contact officials, increasing public anger.
Sources reveal that the Islamabad visa center is still operated under the system of the Indian company BLS, now renamed “Intiana,” with its personnel, procedures, and web system largely unchanged. Dozens of consultancy offices around the center continue to demand applicants large sums for expedited appointments.
The issue has also spilled onto social media, where agents promote fake offers and illegal services via Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok, enticing citizens with promises of priority processing. Applicants report long delays and being forced to pay kickbacks, while those unable to pay wait for months.
The embassy’s continued silence on these irregularities has turned the scandal into a growing national issue, highlighting the need for immediate transparency and reform in the visa appointment system.
