ISLAMABAD: During the national assembly session, there was a heated argument between government member Tariq Bashir Cheema and opposition member Zartaj Gul, after which Gul accused Cheema of using inappropriate language.

As the media reports, this led to disruption in the Assembly, and the opposition demanded the suspension of Cheema’s membership, to which the Speaker agreed.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq presided over the meeting. Tariq Bashir Cheema, while addressing the president, said that irrelevant issues were discussed, and he wanted to talk about wheat-related issues first. He stressed the urgent need to address the problems of wheat procurement and criticized the existing oversupply from farmers.

During Cheema’s speech, Iqbal Afridi intervened, which resulted in more exchanges. Cheema termed wheat procurement negligent and questioned the motive behind it. This was followed by a bitter exchange of words between Cheema, Afridi, and Zartaj Gul.

Cheema mentioned an incident related to the completion of the budget session, which included a dinner at the Prime Minister’s House. He criticized the absence of senior officials during important talks.

Ali Mohammad Khan and others discussed various issues and highlighted the need for corrective measures. Tension escalated after a heated argument between Cheema and Zartaj Gul.

The incident stressed the need for decency and respect in parliamentary proceedings and the importance of constructive dialogue and mutual respect among members.
