MURREE: Murree has been facing persistent rain and dense fog for the past two days, resulting in traffic disruptions and creating safety issues for locals and tourists.
As a response to the worsening weather situation, the district administration has come out with a set of safety guidelines. Locals and visitors have been advised in the strongest possible terms to avoid streams and low-lying areas because of the danger of flash floods.
Concerned authorities have also requested individuals not to make travel unnecessary and make sure vehicles are fitted with fog lamps while traveling in rain and fog.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted further rain coupled with gusty winds in different regions of the country, including the northern regions. It also issued a warning for potential landslides in mountainous tracts, especially in Murree.
Travelers have been advised to stay in secure zones and heed the directives from local authorities. Since the weather system is expected to continue, officials are appealing for vigilance and preparedness for likely natural threats.
