DG Khan: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a constable were shot dead by suspected robbers in Taunsa Sharif here on Tuesday.
The police raided near Dera Shahpur bridge on a tip-off, when the suspects opened fire. As a result, ASI Ghulam Shabbir and Constable Ghulam Farid, posted at Saddar police station, were seriously injured and died on the spot.
District Police Officer Syed Ali along with other police officers reached the spot and ordered the arrest of the suspects.
Police have cordoned off the area to arrest the absconding suspects.
In a statement, the DPO paid tribute to the martyred officers and vowed to bring the culprits to justice.
At least four policemen were killed in an attack in Balochistan’s Nushki district on Saturday.
According to district officials, the shooting incident took place in the Gharibabad area where unidentified armed assailants opened fire on a police patrol van, killing four security personnel.
The attackers managed to escape from the scene. Security forces reached the spot and shifted the bodies to a local hospital.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the attack and expressed deep grief over the loss of precious lives.
In a statement, the Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and vowed to take strict action to ensure that those responsible for the attack face justice.
