E-gates to be installed for fast track immigration at airports

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Airports Authority has formally launched the e-gates project for the fastest immigration of passengers at airports on Tuesday.

Local and foreign experts from the German company M2P Consulting formally launched the project for the planning, design, and installation of e-gates at the airports of Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.

Technical and practical details of the project were discussed before the signing of the agreement, The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General Airports Sadiq-ur-Rehman and Deputy Director General Works and Development Sameer Saeed.

This was followed by a signing ceremony, which was signed by Christoph Mostert, Managing Partner of M2P Consulting, and Kashif Shah Jilani, Director of Engineering Services.

The entire project, including planning, design, installation, and implementation, will be completed in 24 months. M2P consultants will provide technical guidance during the implementation and supervise the selected company after the tendering phase.

The event discussed in detail the integration of e-gates with ICAO and local agency systems. This system will make travel easier and more efficient for passengers by introducing security, automated checking, and reducing reliance on staff.

The survey has been completed at Lahore and Islamabad airports, while the survey at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi will begin tomorrow.

Senior officers of the Pakistan Airports Authority, including the directors of Planning, Development, and Engineering Services, were present on the occasion.
