RAWALPINDI: A security forces check post in the Hassan Mela area of Kurram was attacked by terrorists from across the Afghan border, resulting in the martyrdom of two soldiers and injuries to seven.

According to reports that emerged on Thursday, the attackers launched the attack from Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, targeting a check post located in Luqman Khel Tangi in the Hussein Mela area bordering the border.

Following the incident, local tribal members formed a militia (lashkar) and managed to capture an armed attacker. In a video statement given to the militia, the captured fighter confessed that he had provided weapons to the Taliban to carry out the attack.

It is worth noting that the local tribes had handed over their heavy weapons to the government after the peace agreement. MNA Hamid Hussain has urged the government to formally provide weapons to the tribes in the border areas for national defense.
