RAWALPINDI: Security forces successfully foiled attacks by terrorists belonging to Fitnat-ul-Khawarij in North Waziristan and Bannu district, killing seven militants, officials confirmed on Thursday.

The security sources said that four terrorists attempted a cowardly suicide attack on a Khadi post in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, but vigilant personnel responded swiftly, neutralizing all attackers.

Tragically, the blast claimed the lives of three women and two children, who were caught in the explosion.

Security sources said the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, operating under the patronage of the Afghan Taliban, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a separate incident last night, police foiled another suicide attack on the Mazanga police checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district last night.

Three terrorists were killed after they attempted to attack a police checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu late last night, police said in a statement on Saturday.

Police said the terrorists belonging to the Fitna-al-Khawarij were attempting to attack the police checkpost using a rickshaw loaded with explosive material.

During this attempt, they were intercepted by police officials who tried to stop them due to their suspicious activity, the police said. They exploded the rickshaw on the spot, killing all three terrorists instantly.

Police officials confirmed that no personnel were injured, though minor damage was reported to nearby houses due to the intensity of the explosion.
