ISLAMABAD: The Bureau of Immigration in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has imposed a new requirement for Pakistani employment visas.
According to Adnan Paracha, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (POEPA), UAE work visa applicants will now need a police character certificate in addition to their work visa.
Paracha said the new requirement follows reports of Pakistani nationals being involved in begging and other illegal activities in the UAE.
He also said that the UAE has expanded its list of cities under the visit visa ban from 24 to 30 Pakistani cities.
Furthermore, he highlighted the ongoing difficulty in obtaining work visas for the UAE, a situation that has prevented 100,000 Pakistanis from finding jobs there in the past year.
