RAWALPINDI: A four-member delegation from the United States Embassy arrived at Adiala Jail on Wednesday.
According to Adiala Jail sources, the US Embassy delegation included Consul Officer Dennis Hare, Qaiser Iqbal, Amna Bibi, and Osama Hanif.
Jail sources say that the US Embassy delegation was given consular access to convict Zahir Jaffer, and after meeting with Zahir Jaffer, the US Embassy delegation left for home.
It should be noted that convict Zahir Jaffer is imprisoned in Adiala Jail in the Noor Muqaddam murder case.
Earlier, the Supreme Court issued a detailed written decision upholding the death sentence of the main convict, Zahir Jaffer, in the Noor Muqaddam murder case.
The decision consists of 13 pages in which the court upheld the sentence by citing important legal points and evidence.
In the written decision, the court said that video evidence without eyewitnesses is admissible and authentic footage can become evidence in its own right, and video footage without witnesses is also accepted in bank robbery cases.
The court remarked that silent witnesses have been recognized in American courts. The court decision said that the convict, Zahir Jaffer, mercilessly killed Noor Muqaddam, and the culprit is not worthy of any sympathy.
The court upheld the death sentence for the murder case, while sentencing him to life imprisonment for the rape charge. The court also upheld the sentences of co-accused Muhammad Iftikhar and Muhammad Jan.
Justice Ali Baqir Najafi has indicated that he will write an additional note on this decision.
