TASHKENT: Uzbekistan Airways, the country’s official airline, has announced that direct flights between Tashkent and Islamabad will begin on May 24, 2025.
Flights will first fly once a week, on Saturdays. However, discussions are presently continuing with Pakistan’s civil aviation authorities to establish the essential organizational procedures, according to the spokesperson of the Uzbekistan Embassy.
The new route is being introduced through the joint efforts of Uzbekistan’s Embassy in Pakistan and Uzbekistan Airways JSC, aimed at fostering closer bilateral relations and enhancing travel and trade opportunities between the two countries.
The frequency of flights can be increased based on demand and operational feasibility. Uzbekistan Airways is also exploring the possibility of launching direct flights to Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and economic hub, in addition to the new Tashkent-Islamabad service
The Tashkent-Lahore route twice a week – on Wednesdays and Fridays is currently operational and is providing quality air services to the passengers.
The addition of new routes is expected to enhance the opportunities for greater convenience for the passengers, promote tourism, and enhance the economic and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
