LAHORE: Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 is likely to fall on March 31 and it can bring the extended holidays for students across Punjab from March 29 to April 6, 2025.

Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council said that the crescent moon will be visible across most parts of Pakistan on the evening of March 30 and Eidul Fitr is likely to be observed on March 31.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on Ramadan 29 (Sunday, March 30) for sighting of the moon.

As per details, the provincial government declares three holidays in line with the schedule of the federal government on the eve of the eid every year.

Depending on when the Shawal moon is sighted in Pakistan, the holidays will last either five or six days, including the weekend this year.

Pakistanis are hopeful for a longer holiday this year, as if the Eid falls on Monday, the holidays will start from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2. When combined with the Saturday and Sunday weekly offs, it will become a five-day break.

If the Shawal moon is not spotted on March 30, the holy month of fasting will last 30 days. It means, the holidays will start from April 1 to April 3. As there is Monday between a weekly Sunday off and April 1, the government could announce a holiday on March 31, making it a six-day break.
