Why UAE imposes visa restrictions on Pakistani citizens?

ISLAMABAD (By Rizwan Abbasi): In a startling development, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has revealed serious reasons including the irresponsible community behavior behind the recent imposition of visa restrictions on Pakistani citizens.

Earlier in August this year, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain said that the Government of Pakistan was “very concerned” about visa restrictions by the UAE and the foreign ministry was in talks with the Emirates authorities to resolve the issue.

Sources within the UAE authorities told Daily Ausaf that these restrictions stem from irresponsible behaviors exhibited by certain segments of the Pakistani community, which have raised diplomatic and political challenges for the UAE.

UAE officials have specifically pointed to the persistent criticism of the country’s internal policies by Pakistani citizens on social media, particularly concerning sensitive issues such as the Israel-Palestine conflict and relations with India.

Additionally, misleading portrayals of recent monsoon flooding in Dubai have sparked an international backlash against the UAE administration, prompting a need for corrective measures.

The escalating political activities of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other party members in the UAE are also contributing factors. Their government-opposing speeches and criticism of Emirati policies are creating significant challenges for local authorities, leading to the implementation of stricter regulations.

Furthermore, the influx of unskilled workers from Pakistan and the rising number of beggars in the UAE have prompted the authorities to tighten visa issuance. These developments have necessitated the enforcement of stringent immigration policies.

Pakistan’s Consul General in Dubai Hussain Muhammad has issued a stern warning to Pakistani nationals regarding potential consequences for violating UAE laws, which may include heavy fines, imprisonment, or deportation. He urged the Pakistani community to adopt responsible behavior on social media and adhere to local regulations.

Sources indicate that these restrictions will remain in place until the Pakistani community demonstrates a positive shift in behavior and ensures respect for UAE laws.
