KASUR: In a significant move to protect wildlife, the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched a comprehensive crackdown on the smuggling of rare species.

Recently, a raid by the wildlife department in Kasur district resulted in the recovery of a 7-feet-long marsh crocodile, valued at crores of rupees in the global market.

The wildlife department tactfully handled the situation and carefully lured the giant reptile into a net, where he was later transferred to the nearby Gutwala Wildlife Breeding Centre.

The rare reptile was rescued from illegal custody, whereas a case has been registered against the accused. The video surfing on the internet shows how bravely the wildlife department rescued the giant animal.

Senior Punjab Minister Maryam Aurangzeb praised the efforts of the wildlife department officers and staff, noting that this is the first time such extensive measures are being taken to ensure the protection and survival of wildlife in Punjab.

In addition,  She emphasized that the protection of animal rights is crucial in maintaining the ecosystem.

This crackdown is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s broader vision for a safer and more sustainable Punjab. Her leadership has also been driving initiatives to eliminate illegal weapons and drugs from the province.

The Punjab Police has conducted numerous raids and arrests, seizing thousands of kilograms of drugs and hundreds of illegal firearms.

This intensified focus on wildlife protection and law enforcement demonstrates the Punjab government’s commitment to creating a safer, more sustainable environment for its citizens and wildlife.
