Esha Deol refutes false report of Dharmendra’s demise

MUMBAI: Reports of the death of legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra are circulating in the Indian media, however, his daughter Esha Deol has strongly denied these reports.

India Today’s report claimed that the actor’s team confirmed his death on the morning of Tuesday, November 11. Dharmendra was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital yesterday where he was on a ventilator and has now passed away at the age of 89.

Indian media says that Dharmendra was also shifted to the hospital last week due to difficulty in breathing, while he also underwent eye surgery in April this year.

Dharmendra’s death was also confirmed by renowned Indian journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai, in addition to this, Javed Akhtar also expressed grief over Dharmendra’s death.

According to reports, Dharmendra last showed his acting chops in the film ‘Akis’, which is scheduled to release on December 25.

On the other hand, Dharmendra’s daughter Esha Deol also posted a message on Instagram in which she expressed her anger over the publication of the news of her father’s death and denied the death.

She said that everyone is requested to keep our family’s privacy in mind and pray for my father’s complete recovery.

It should be noted that Dharmendra started his career in 1960 with the film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award, by the Government of India in 2012.

In his career spanning 6 decades, Dharmendra has done award-winning films like ‘Sholay’, ‘Yaadun Ki Baaraat’, ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, ‘Nokar Biwi Ka’, ‘Phul Aur Pat’, ‘Phul Aur Patli’.

Born as Dharmendra Kewal Krishna Deol in a village in Ludhiana, Punjab, he married Prakash Kaur in 1954 at the age of 19 before entering the film industry.

He later fell in love with actress Hema Malini, whom he married.

Even at the age of 89, Dharmendra remained active on social media, often sharing videos that promote healthy living.

Many of his Instagram posts featured him driving a tractor, tending to his farm, and offering his fans simple life lessons and farming tips.
