Pakistani singer-turned-politician Jawad Ahmed has once again found himself at the center of public debate after making controversial remarks about Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah during a recent YouTube appearance.
Ahmed, who gained fame in the 1990s as a successful singer and now leads the Barabri Party, has built a reputation for expressing bold political opinions through interviews and digital platforms. Over the years, he has publicly criticized several prominent personalities, including Imran Khan, Junaid Jamshed, and other influential figures.
In his latest video, Jawad Ahmed claimed that Quaid-e-Azam held secular views and argued that the founder of Pakistan did not actively practice religion in his personal life. Referring to historical accounts, he encouraged viewers to study Stanley Wolpert’s writings on Muhammad Ali Jinnah to better understand his perspective.
Ahmed also mentioned author Saadat Hasan Manto, saying that Manto had discussed members of the Jinnah family in his writings. He further argued that secularism should not be confused with atheism, maintaining that it simply supports the freedom of individuals to practice their religion without interference.
His statements quickly attracted attention across social media, where users expressed sharply divided opinions. While some defended his right to interpret history and discuss political ideas, many criticized his remarks, calling them controversial and questioning his interpretation of Pakistan’s founding leader.
The discussion continues to generate significant engagement online, adding another chapter to Jawad Ahmed’s history of outspoken public commentary.
