ISLAMABAD: A viral social media post has shocked and confused Pakistanis as it claims that the world-famous series The Simpsons predicted the tragic death of a famous Pakistani cricketer in a car accident.
The post, which features a screenshot resembling the show’s famous animation style, has been widely circulated across various platforms, and has everyone talking. Although the post does not name any specific player, social media users have flooded the comments sections with guesses, linking the cartoon image to star cricketers like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan.
The misleading caption accompanying the screenshot reads, “This is heartbreaking. Pakistan’s greatest cricketer has suddenly passed away in a car accident. Fans around the world are in shock. But how did this happen? Was it really an accident – or something else? The Simpsons predicted it. No one believed it.”
Fact-checkers confirmed that the claim is completely false. There is no record of a Pakistani cricketer being mentioned in any of The Simpsons’ 35 seasons or 750+ episodes. No official script, scene, or credible media outlet supports this claim.
Some users were quick to point out that the graphic was created using AI tools or photo-editing software to capitalize on The Simpsons’ reputation for eerily accurate “predictions.”
