DUBAI: The Asia Cup 2025 thriller tonight at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium hits a fever pitch with Pakistan and UAE playing a virtual quarterfinal against each other.
With India already qualified for the Super Four, tonight’s champion alone will get a slot in the next round, while the loser will be eliminated from the tournament.
Both have tread parallel paths thus far, victorious over Oman and then woeful losses to India, to stage a tension-filled climax. For Pakistan, a two-time Asia Cup winner, anything less than advancement will be regarded as a setback of some magnitude. For the UAE, the underdogs who have already won friends, the opportunity to pen an upset for the ages lies in waiting.
Pakistan go into the confrontation as favourites, but they only managed to beat the UAE twice in Sharjah during last month’s tri-series. However, those encounters were anything but one-sided. UAE pushed Pakistan with both bat and ball before coming short, so there is every chance of another close encounter on the Dubai lights.
Though most of the buildup has been marred by the aftermath of Pakistan’s match against India, tonight offers an opportunity for the team to turn the narrative around with a strong victory.
PTV Sports will be televising the live action of the event tonight on regular cable. For those who enjoy the comfort of streaming live games, Tamasha and Myco have you covered.
