India denies permission to send Kabaddi team to Pakistan

LAHORE: As the Champions Trophy saga continues, Indian authorities have decided not to send their Kabaddi team to visit Pakistan for a couple of matches, the first of which was scheduled for November 19 at Kartarpur.

Sources said that the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation had been informed regarding the Indian team not traveling to Pakistan.

The matches were scheduled in Lahore on November 21 and in Bahawalpur on November 23.

Following India’s refusal, the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation is making arrangements to hold an exhibition match in Nankana Sahib.

Apart from that, India’s blind cricket team is also awaiting government approval to [participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup is also in doubt.

Despite being issued the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the sports ministry, the Indian blind team could not get approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs and External Affairs to visit Pakistan for the mega event.

The fourth edition of the Blind T20 World Cup is scheduled from November 23 to December 3 with matches to be played in Lahore and Multan.

Earlier, after reports regarding India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for next year’s Champions Trophy emerged, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially reached out to the International Cricket Council (ICC), requesting a formal written explanation of the matter.

Pakistan had already rejected the option of a hybrid model that would allow India to play their matches at neutral venues.
