Lahore Qalandars crush Karachi Kings by 65 runs in PSL 10 showdown

KARACHI: Shaheen Shah Afridi and Rashad Hussain took three wickets each as Lahore Qalandars defeated Karachi Kings by 65 runs in the sixth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, here on Tuesday.

Earlier, Fakhar Zaman and Daryl Mitchell scored half-centuries as Lahore Qalandars set a target of 202 runs for Karachi Kings.

After deciding to bat first, Qalandars lost two quick wickets as opening batsman Muhammad Naeem was dismissed after scoring seven runs.

Abdullah Shafiq then joined Fakhar Zaman in the middle, however, he was dismissed for six, with the scoreboard showing 25/2 in 3.5 overs.

Daryl Mitchell and Fakhar then took charge and put on a 125-run partnership to put Lahore Qalandars in a strong position.

The partnership ended after Fakhar Zaman was dismissed after he scored 75 runs off 47 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes.

Sam Billings then joined Daryl Mitchell in the middle and added 19 runs off 10 balls in total.

Daryl Mitchell was dismissed after scoring 75 runs off 41 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes.

For Karachi Kings, Hasan Ali took four wickets and Abbas Afridi took one wicket.

Lahore Qalandars: Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Naeem, Abdullah Shafiq, Daryl Mitchell, Sam Billings (wicket), Sikandar Raza, Shaheen Afridi (captain), Rishad Hossain, Haris Rauf, Asif Afridi and Zaman Khan.

Karachi Kings made a brilliant start to their PSL 10 campaign when they defeated Multan Sultans by four wickets in a high-scoring game.

Karachi Kings remain in the running for the highly anticipated clash, while Lahore Qalandars have included Zaman Khan in their playing XI for Jahandad Khan.

It is worth noting that the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League began on April 11 with a star-studded opening ceremony at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

PSL 10 will run from April 11 to May 18, with 34 matches to be played from April 11 to May 18. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including two eliminators and the final.
