Namibia’s Jan Nicol Smashes Fastest T20I Century

Kirtipur: Namibia’s all-rounder Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton made cricket history on Tuesday by setting a new record for the fastest Twenty20 International (T20I) century. Loftie-Eaton achieved this feat in a match against Nepal in Kirtipur, where he reached his century in just 33 balls.

In the opening game of a tri-series that also includes the Netherlands, Loftie-Eaton’s remarkable innings included 11 fours and eight sixes, ultimately leading to a score of 101 runs from just 36 deliveries. This performance surpassed the previous record held by Nepal’s Kushal Malla, who had scored a T20I hundred from 34 balls against Mongolia last year.

Namibia posted a formidable total of 206-4 while batting first, with Loftie-Eaton’s explosive innings being the highlight. Additionally, he showcased his all-round capabilities by also contributing with the ball, taking two wickets during Nepal’s chase.

Despite Nepal’s efforts, they fell short in their chase, ultimately losing the match by 20 runs. The tri-series, which includes teams that have all qualified for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June to be held in the Caribbean and the United States, promises exciting cricket action in the lead-up to the prestigious tournament.
