ISLAMABAD: Reigning U19 Asia Cup champions, Pakistan, will head to England in September for a kind of bilateral series, featuring one four-day match and then four one-day games, basically.
This tour runs from September 2 to 16, and it is the young side’s first real assignment after the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup earlier this year, where Pakistan got knocked out in the Super Six stage.
They will kick things off with a four-day match in Arundel, scheduled for September 2 to 5. Arundel will also hold the first ODI on September 9, so no real change there, at least at the start.
After that, Pakistan will move to Guildford for the second ODI on September 12, before the last two games are played in Wormsley on September 14 and then on September 16.
For Pakistan U19, this series is also a chance to get back to momentum after a mixed-ish start to the year. Yes, the team fell short at the U19 World Cup, but they had looked decent before that event by winning the U19 ODI tri-series in Zimbabwe, and they did it without losing a single match.
That success arrived not long after Pakistan’s unforgettable ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup triumph, where they completely dominated India, winning by 191 runs in the final. Pakistan lost only one match in that tournament, and that too was against India during the group phase.
