DUBAI: The latest ICC Test rankings have brought disappointing news for Pakistani cricketers, with several players slipping down the standings in both batting and bowling categories.
England batter Joe Root retained his position as the world’s top-ranked Test batter in the updated rankings released by the International Cricket Council.
Pakistan middle-order batter Saud Shakeel suffered a significant drop, falling six places to 15th position and moving out of the top 10 rankings.
In the bowling category, Pakistan spinner Noman Ali also slipped three spots and is now ranked fifth among Test bowlers.
Meanwhile, Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc climbed one place to become the world’s second-ranked Test bowler following his recent performances.
The updated rankings reflect recent Test performances and international series results across major cricketing nations.
