PARIS: Pakistan’s Paralympian Haider Ali bagged a bronze medal with his season-best throw in the men’s Discuss Throw F37 event at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024 on Friday.
Pakistan’s only para-athlete in ongoing games, Haider Ali made a throw of 52.54m in the sixth attempt, which earned him third place in the final of the Discuss Throw F37 event at the Stade de France.
In his first attempt, he bagged a throw of 52.28m, missed out on the next four attempts, and threw an improved sixth attempt which made him the only medalist in the ongoing Paralympics games.
It is pertinent to mention that today’s triumph is Haider’s fourth medal in the Paralympics. He grabbed a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics in the same event, a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games in the Long jump T37, and a silver medal at 2008 Beijing in the Long jump F37/38.
He had directly qualified for the 2024 Paris Games after an outstanding performance last year at the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, where he threw 51.23 meters in the F37 category.
