Rain likely in Islamabad, KP, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the possibility of rain in Islamabad during the evening hours. Thunderstorms and rain are also expected in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PMD has forecast hot and dry weather for Lahore over the next 24 hours, with no significant chance of rainfall in the provincial capital.

According to the Met Office, the maximum temperature in Lahore is expected to reach 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to remain around 29 degrees Celsius.

Winds are expected to blow at a speed of 7 kilometres per hour, with humidity levels reaching up to 73 percent.

Officials said the city continues to experience hot weather, with temperatures expected to rise further during the day.

On Friday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded in Nokundi at 45 degrees Celsius, while Dalbandin, Jacobabad and Dadu recorded 44 degrees Celsius, Sukkur 43 degrees Celsius, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha and Chilas 41 degrees Celsius, Muzaffarabad 39 degrees Celsius, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Gilgit 38 degrees Celsius.

Weather experts have warned that the intensity of heat is likely to increase in Lahore and adjoining areas from tomorrow.

Karachi Weather

In Karachi, partly cloudy conditions prevailed, while drizzle in some areas made the weather comparatively pleasant. The city’s current temperature was 30 degrees Celsius, with the maximum expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius during the day.

According to the Met Office, Karachi is likely to experience partly cloudy and humid weather conditions. Humidity levels were recorded at 78 percent, while westerly winds were blowing at a speed of 19 kilometres per hour.

However, the Meteorological Department said there is no forecast of heavy rainfall in Karachi during the coming week, and weather conditions are expected to remain largely stable.
