RIYADH: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia announced that the upcoming holiday period will last for four days for citizens working in the private sector and also non-profit organizations during the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
According to the Saudi state media, the holiday is planned to start on 9 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, which matches May 26, 2026.
The ministry also explained that the time off will be handled based on Article 24 of the Labour Law, so it stays in line with the rules and guidance already approved for official holidays inside the Kingdom.
This decision coincides with the provision of details about several key dates of Hajj. It is estimated that the month of Dhul Hijjah is going to start on Monday, May 18, 2026. On the other hand, the religiously significant day of Hajj – Day of Arafat – is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

According to the Ruet-e-Hillal committee’s announcement, Pakistan will observe Eid al-Adha 2026 on May 27.
The final announcement regarding the beginning of Zil Hajj was made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which relies on both scientific data and physical moon sighting reports.
The day of Arafah falls on the 9th of Zil Hajj, which is the day before Eid, and will be observed on Tuesday, 26th May 2026.
