DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a new policy that will grant 10 days of wedding leave to civil servants in Dubai, as part of efforts to promote work-life balance and family well-being.
Reports say that the new order was issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Under the order, all civil servants, except military personnel, are entitled to 10 days of leave for their wedding.
Importantly, employees cannot be recalled during this leave period, except for military personnel, and then only in emergency situations. If a military officer is recalled early, the remaining days of leave will be granted at a later date.
Furthermore, if an employee is unable to take leave within the specified period, it can be carried forward to the next year with the approval of the supervisor, provided a valid reason is given.
This new policy is part of the UAE government’s broader strategy to enhance employee well-being and support strong family foundations among public sector workers.
