Pakistan crushes Iran for fifth straight win in Asian U-16 Volleyball championship

BANGKOK: In a commendable performance, Pakistan defeated defending champion Iran in the Under-16 Volleyball championship.

Pakistan has won 5 consecutive matches after defeating Iran 3-1 in a thrilling match in the championship. The green shirts’ score against Iran was 25-23، 25-19، 22-25, and 31-29.

Pakistan has already secured a place in the top 4 of the tournament, where it will face India or Japan.

Faizanullah, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Junaid and Saran Baig played outstanding performances for Pakistan.

Faizanullah scored 23 points including 21 attack points, Irfan scored 16 points.

Overall, Pakistan outscored Iran in attack points 51-44 and block points 15-11, while Iran was better in service points.

Pakistan topped Group F of this stage by winning both matches of the crossover round. Pakistan had carried forward the points from the first round win against Korea.

Earlier, in another development, Pakistan has bagged a total of seven medals in the 32nd Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships 2025 in South Korea.

The medal tally includes two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal in the main event, and two gold medals in the plate event

M Sohail Adnan (U-13) and Nauman Khan (U-15) won gold medals, Ahmed Rayyan Khalil (U-15) and Mahnoor Ali (Girls U-13) won silver medals, and Abdullah Nawaz (U-19) won a bronze medal. In the plate event, Yahya Khan (U-17) and M Mustafa (U-13) won gold medals.

Nauman Khan (PAK) beats Ahmad Rayyan Khalil (PAK) 12-10, 11-6, 11-2 (3-0) in Boys U-15.

Muhammad Sohail Adnan (PAK) beat Ayaan Dhanuka (IND) 11-5, 11-2, 11-13, 11-6 (3-1) in Boys U-13.

In Girls U-13, Yin Z (CHN) beat Mahnoor Ali (PAK) 9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 12-10 (3-2).

Moreover, Plate Events, Boys U-17, Yahya Khan (PAK) beat Chanyoung K (KOR) 11-9, 11-7 (2-0). In Boys U-13, Muhammad Mustafa (PAK) beat Tse K C (HKG) 11-3, 11-8 (2-0).

The Pakistan Squash Federation applauded each medalist, stating that gold medals in major competitions are a tremendous accomplishment and that Pakistan squash is back on track. Our young squash stars make us proud.
