Check latest 72-page Pakistan passport fee update for July 2025

Pakistani passport holders get visa-free access to around 30 countries

KARACHI: The Government of Pakistan issues passports to its genuine citizens to allow them international travel and protect them abroad through the diplomatic intervention of Pakistani missions worldwide.

A Pakistani passport is valid to make its bearer eligible for help and protection from Pakistan’s diplomatic and consular staff while visiting a foreign country.

A passport is the only formal document verifying the identity of a Pakistani foreigner. It also guarantees their legal right to leave and return to the country.

A Machine Readable Passport (MRP) for foreign travel is available to all Pakistani citizens, subject to meeting the required conditions.

Once the requisite passport fee is paid, the applicants have to go through a series of processes at their local Regional Passport Office (RPO) to receive the MRP.

The two predominant methods to apply for a passport are:

Online Application

Both inland and overseas Pakistanis who wish to renew their passports can only apply through this method. Minor changes and the dispensation of new passports to newborns living abroad also fall under this category.

In-Person Application

Citizens may also apply directly at Regional Passport Offices in Pakistan or Pakistani missions abroad for new passports, renewals, or changes.

This system is built to speed up the passport issuance process while ensuring the integrity and security of travel documents among Pakistani citizens globally.

The department releases passports of varying categories based on the number of pages since the travel document is available with 36, 72, and 100 pages.

72-Page Passport Fee Structure

For the citizens seeking a 72-page Machine Readable Passport (MRP), the Government of Pakistan has determined the following fee structure:

Normal fee for 5 years validity is Rs8,200, and in case of urgent service, it will be Rs13,500.

Normal fee for 10 years validity is Rs 12,400, and the urgent fee is Rs 20,200.

These charges are applicable for both renewals and new passport applications and are dependent on the fulfillment of all formalities required.
