BEJIENG: A bizarre domestic dispute originating from China has gone viral since one woman accused her husband of cheating on her because of an online fortune-telling session.

The incident occurred in Wuhu, Anhui province. According to the report, she paid 500 yuan – approximately Rs. 20,000 to a self-proclaimed “fortune-telling master” who told her that her husband secretly met up with prostitutes and checked into hotels with other women.

Lured by the prophecy, in spite of her husband’s denial, she accused him and thus faced growing conjugal tension.

Zhao Xingyu, a police officer with the Guandou Police Station under the Jiujiang Branch of Wuhu Public Security Bureau, said the woman had fully believed what the online fortune-teller said.

“She paid 500 yuan for the reading and believed everything the so-called master said,” Zhao explained. “She was convinced of their accuracy because others had told her the fortune-teller was very reliable.”

Distraught from all these accusations, the husband even went as far as saying that the fortune-teller claimed he had stayed in hotels with women and solicited sex workers. He told police that his wife continuously called the fortune teller and would not listen to reason.

“She has been calling that fortune-teller non-stop. I told her I can’t live like this anymore-it’s unbearable,” he said.

The husband, unable to get his wife to believe in his innocence, appealed to the police for help. The woman was eventually criticized by the police for her superstitious behavior, and intervention was made by officers between the couple.
