DUBAI: Another Pakistani delivery rider in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) set an example of honesty, returning 15,000 AED to a customer who accidentally overpaid for a delivery, the customer told Khaleej Times.

Polish expat Kajetan Hubner accidentally overpaid Dh17,000 for a delivery that only cost Dh1,700. However, Kajetan received a call from the rider, named Muhammad Mohsin Nazir, who alerted him to the error and wanted to return the excess amount.

The customer recalling his incident said that he didn’t realize he paid the rider extra and thought he dropped cash or lost it.

Kajetan said, however, he received a message from the rider the following day. “He said that I had made a mistake and that he would return it to me. I couldn’t believe that I got my money back. Since then, I have constantly stayed in touch with him; we are like brothers,” Kejatan said in an interview.

On the other hand, Noon rider Muhammad Mohsin Nazir, hailing from Pakistan, upon counting the money at the end of his shift, was equally surprised by the large sum. He said that he kept checking the delivery order and counting the money.

“I confirmed with my colleagues that I had not made a mistake. Then I wondered whether he had given me a huge tip, but no one tips that much,” he said in an interview.

“My mother called me from Pakistan at the time, and I explained my confusion to her. She advised me to contact Kajetan and confirm with him immediately. She told me not to keep a dirham from that money without checking with him.”

The delivery rider said that he deposited the correct amount to his company and returned the excess to Kajetan the following day.

Impressed by Muhammad’s integrity, Kajetan offered him a tip of 300 AED, which Muhammad initially refused. Muhammad has also received a reward from Noon, the delivery service he works for, in recognition of his actions.
