DUBAI: A light aircraft crashed near the coast of Ras Al Khaimah, killing a Pakistani female pilot and a 26-year-old Indian passenger.

The plane, which was carrying only the pilot and a passenger, crashed into the sea near the capital of Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday, killing both.

The pilot has been identified as a 26-year-old Pakistani woman, while the passenger has been identified as Sulaiman Al Majid, 26.

The deceased passenger’s parents are from India but were based in the United Arab Emirates, where Sulaiman was born. He worked as a doctor.

Sulaiman’s father said his son had rented the light aircraft for a recreational flight. The plane took off around 2pm on Sunday and crashed shortly after near the coast.
